Time to Change Wales
The National Centre for Mental Health (NCMH) pledges its full and unconditional support to Time to Change Wales, the new campaign which aims to end stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health problems.
Following the success of Time to Change in England, and based on robust evidence from similar campaigns in the USA, New Zealand and Scotland, Time to Change Wales is the first all Wales campaign to challenge the stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health problems and their families. The campaign has been funded for three years by the Big Lottery Fund, Comic Relief and the Welsh Government and is being run by a partnership of three leading mental health charities in Wales: Gofal, Hafal and Mind Cymru.
Professor Nick Craddock, Director of the NCMH and Becky Vangasse, NCMH Manager, attended the launch on 21 February at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay. Attendees were asked to pledge their support for the campaign and Nick and Becky pledged the full and unconditional support of the NCMH.
The NCMH has an important role to play in informing, educating and engaging with patients, carers and the public to help improve understanding of mental health and illness, and will be working with Time to Change Wales to identify how it can support the campaign.
